Pharmaceutical manufacturing industries generate a significant amount of wastewater containing hazardous and toxic chemicals, which must be treated before being released into the environment. The Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) is used to treat wastewater generated from pharmaceutical manufacturing units. Now, we will discuss the working principle of ETP and the functions of various components involved in it.

This applies to industries that generate wastewater with high concentrations of organic matter (e.g. oil and grease), toxic pollutants (e.g. heavy metals, volatile organic compound) or nutrients such as ammonia. Some industries install a pre-treatment system to remove some pollutants (e.g., toxic compounds), and then discharge the partially treated wastewater to the municipal sewer system.

Effluent Treatment Plants or (ETP) are used by most of the companies in various industries to clean water and remove any toxic and non-toxic materials or chemicals from it so that that water can be reused or released in the environment which will do less harm to the environment.
